Dance of Light and Shadow

While walking the dog, I noticed tiny flows of traveling ice below the canal in the Heart of the Rideau. When considering some of the photographs afterward, I was reminded of another image from a walk with the dog, and felt to explore the two experiences together. Working only with mobile phone apps, this is what I came up with. It’s a bit rough, and bit over-contrasty, a bit of the wrong kind of grit. But it has a strong feeling that resonates, too.

For me, the two shapes, one mostly in shadow, the other mostly in light, seem like they are dancing—a kind of medieval dance where the partners seem almost never to touch.
